According to reports, Neil Gaiman forced victims to have relationships through BDSM, which means a set of sexual practices through domination, submission and sadomasochism. In addition to the rape accusations, the women allege that consent and specific BDSM activities were not discussed and agreed upon before they took place.

The main report is Scarlett Pavlovich who was 22 when he met Gaiman’s ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, in New Zealand. They struck up a friendship and soon the young woman began working as a nanny for Palmer and Gaiman’s 5-year-old son.

Pavlovich said the first sexual assault was as soon as he met the perpetrator. While waiting for the child to finish playing, he allegedly offered her a bath in a bathtub in the house. She alleges that he, without warning, joined the young woman there completely naked before committing the abuse.

The young woman claimed this continued throughout the time she cared for the family’s children, including one occasion when he allegedly attempted to have anal sex with her using butter as lubricant. She filed a complaint against the artist in early 2023.

Another report is from katherine kendall who was 22 years old when he met Gaiman in 2012, a time when he was a fan of the writer’s work. She claims he tried to abuse her on his tour bus after she told him she didn’t want to have sex with him. The magazine reports that, years later, he paid her $60,000 for therapy to “compensate for the damage.”

Other reports include high-value payments to alleged victims. THE The article can be seen in full on the official website of Vulture magazine.

Gaiman’s defense does not deny sexual relations, claiming in the Vulture article that all relations were consensual.
