Norwegian justice has rejected a request by neo-Nazi Anders Behring Breivik to seek parole, just ten years after he killed 77 people in Oslo and the Norwegian island of Uteja.
“There is an obvious risk that he will repeat the behavior that led to the terrorist attacks of July 22, 2011,” the Telemark court said in a statement.
Breivik killed eight people in Oslo when he blew up a trapped car and then went to the island and opened fire indiscriminately, killing another 69, most of them teenagers at a Labor youth camp.
The court decision was unanimous.
Breivik, 42, is serving a 21-year sentence, which can be extended indefinitely if it is considered a threat to society. However, he was able to request his early release after serving 10 years of his sentence and can make similar requests one year after each rejection by the court.
