Nestlé’s investment in Brazil should almost double in 2022 to R$1.8 billion

Nestlé will invest more than BRL 1.8 billion in Brazil in 2022, almost double the total invested last year, an increase influenced by the start of construction of a pet food factory, but also with strong investments in the expansion of the productive capacity of other industries of the company in the country.

The Nestlé Purina feed factory, whose works have already started, will account for about 40% of the total invested in the country in 2022, the equivalent of R$ 730 million, the company told Reuters, detailing the annual investment.

An amount of R$ 1.1 billion will be invested in industry operations in Brazil, including new technologies, logistics and sustainability – of this total, 90% will be directed to new lines for capacity expansion, greater productivity and innovation in products, in addition to investments in energy efficiency and the use of biomass instead of gas.

The coffee factories, a priority segment of the company in Brazil, will receive R$ 160 million this year, a contribution that does not consider other investments such as sales and distribution channels.

“It will be a year of much investment in innovation, increased efficiency and productivity in the lines, in addition to the sustainability of operations”, said the CEO of Nestlé Brazil, Marcelo Melchior, in a note.

“We are accelerating investments and anticipating projects in new lines and technologies that will allow us to expand capabilities and support the business strategies we designed for the period,” he added.

Previously, Nestlé announced investments of at least R$1 billion in the pet food factory in Santa Catarina, with the company seeking leadership in a strong growth market in Brazil. The amount planned for this year should represent an important part of the total contributions.
