Netanyahu: “Albanesi betrayed Israel” – a diplomatic crisis after Australia’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today accused his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanesi of “betraying” Israel as the diplomatic tension between the two countries is exacerbated after Kamerra announced that it would recognize a Palestinian state. “History will remember Albanesi for what he is: a weak politician who betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia’s Jews,” Netanyahu wrote in X. Earlier today Australian Foreign Minister Peni Wong described him as “unjustified” soils. For his part, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar clarified that the measure was taken after Australia’s “unjustified refusal” to “give visa to Israeli personalities”.
