The visit to Jerusalem by envoys Amos Hockstein and Brett McGurk was mainly aimed at finding a way to end the more than a month-long war between the Israeli army and the Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite movement, as the US wants a deal struck framework before the American presidential elections are held next Tuesday, November 5.
