Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the reinforcement of security at Israel’s missions around the world after the murder of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night (21).
“My heart hurts for the families of the young man, man and woman, whose lives were suddenly reapted by an vile anti -Semitic assassin,” Netanyahu said in a statement.
“We are witnessing the terrible cost of anti -Semitism and wild incitement against the state of Israel,” he continued.
United States Attorney General Pam Bondi told Netanyahu that President Donald Trump is “personally involved in managing the attack response and that the US will ensure that the killer will be brought to court,” the statement.
She also asked the prime minister to transmit her condolences to the families of the young dead couple.
The United Nations Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon stated that his country’s embassies are on “maximum alert” after gunfire.
“It’s a very difficult night for all of us here in the United States,” Danon told MJ Lee from CNN .
“It was an attack on Israel, an attack on the Jewish community, but also an attack on the US itself,” he continued.
The two employees of the Dead Embassy were a couple planning to be engaged next week in Jerusalem, the ambassador reported.
“Unfortunately, this won’t happen.”
Danon said world leaders need to do more to curb anti -Semite hatred crimes.
“Many leaders around the world condemn anti -Semitism and hate crimes, but they don’t do enough to impose the law. We expect actions, not just statements.”
