Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip will continue until the region “ceases to be a threat to Israel”, the country’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a visit to an army intelligence base on Tuesday ( 28).
“We are committed to completing these missions: freeing all hostages, eliminating this terrorist organization above and below ground and, of course, that Gaza must not go back to what it was — that it will no longer pose a threat to the State of Israel,” he stated.
This comment was made before the release of hostages by Hamas this Tuesday. 10 Israelis and two Thais were released.
The prime minister also promised to release all hostages taken by Hamas, “without exception”.
Netanyahu also blamed civilians in Gaza for “protecting terrorists”, but did not provide any evidence for the accusation.
“We are seeing, in effect, that the residents, the civilians in Gaza above [do solo] they are protecting all terrorists. They built an underground city to protect themselves and are sacrificing the civilians above,” she alleged.
Hamas denies using civilians as human shields.
