Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday (9) that “no force in the world” will prevent Israeli troops from entering Rafah, in southern Gaza, to eliminate Hamas units believed to be there.
Speaking at a recruitment event at a military base, Netanyahu said: “We will complete the elimination of Hamas battalions, including in Rafah. There is no force in the world that can stop us.”
“Many forces are trying to do this, but it will not help, because this enemy, after what it has done, will not do it again, it will cease to exist,” added Netanyahu.
Earlier this week, Netanyahu said a date had been set for Operation Rafah, but did not specify when it would begin.
Netanyahu also said at the event: “We have three objectives: one, return those kidnapped. All observers, and not just them, all together. Let's get them all back. The second objective – eliminate Hamas. The third objective – to ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel.”
Netanyahu continued: “There is a fourth objective – Hamas is part of Iran’s axis of evil that seeks to destroy us. When we defeat Hamas, we are not just defeating Hamas – we are defeating the Axis.”
