Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today revived moves to shut down Qatar's Al Jazeera satellite television station in Israel, saying through a spokesman for his party that parliament would convene in the evening to ratify the necessary law. Netanyahu will then “take immediate steps to shut down Al Jazeera in compliance with the procedure outlined in the law,” the Likud party statement said. There was no immediate comment from the station's headquarters or the Qatari government in Doha. Since the outbreak of war in Gaza on October 7, Doha has brokered ceasefire talks in which Israel has recovered some of the hostages taken by Hamas.
