Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that he welcomes Egypt’s willingness to push ahead with the resumption of negotiations aimed at reaching an agreement on the release of Hamas hostages in the Gaza Strip. After earlier consultations in Cairo, which had taken on the role of mediator in talks aimed at a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages, Netanyahu announced that he was sending the head of the Mossad to Qatar to push the process forward. Earlier, a Hamas delegation met with Egyptian officials in Cairo, state-run Al Qahera TV reported. In the Egyptian capital is – among others – Khalil al-Haya, a top Hamas official and a possible successor to the assassinated leader of the movement Yahya Sinwar. Source: RES
