Netanyahu’s trial for corruption, fraud and breach of trust resumes

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is back in a Tel Aviv courtroom for the resumption of his corruption trial and to answer the charges and testify. Netanyahu is the first sitting prime minister to stand trial for corruption, fraud and breach of trust. Today’s hearing is part of his trial that began in May 2020 and was interrupted by the war in Gaza. Netanyahu has since filed a series of postponement requests citing hostilities that began after October 7, 2023. Opponents and supporters of the Israeli prime minister had gathered outside the courthouse with slogans such as “Bibi in jail” or “Netanyahu, the people support you,” while MPs of the government coalition had received in the underground room where the trial for security reasons.
