Netflix, Amazon, HBO: Check out what’s coming to streaming in February

The month of February brings a variety of premieres on streaming platforms. From Oscar-nominated films to the return of successful series, the period sees the debut of many new features.

One of the main highlights is “Parallel Mothers”, the director’s newest feature Pedro Almodovar (“All About My Mother,” “Pain and Glory”). The plot starring Penelope Cruz tells the story of two mothers who give birth on the same day, and go through the challenges of motherhood sharing this bond.

also in Netflix, draws attention “Inventing Anna”, a new production by Shond Rimes (“Bridgerton”), which transforms the case of a scammer who pretended to be a socialite and carried out millionaire scams in New York into a miniseries.

On Amazon, the highlight is the 4th season of “The Wonderful Mrs. Maisel”. The Emmy-winning series follows the adventures of Midge Maisel as she defies machismo in her career as a comedian in 1950s Manhattan.

the long “Kimi”, by Steven Soderbergh (“Man’s Eleven”, “Contagion”) is the main premiere of the month on HBO Max. Part of the filmmaker’s project to develop exclusive films for the platform, the story follows a software developer that has of solving a murder uncovered in the recordings of his voice assistant.

Documentary from the creators of “Don’t F**k with Cats: An Online Hunt”, shows how a thief who used the dating app to pretend to be a billionaire and deceive a series of women.

2/2 – Dark Desire (Season 2)

The Mexican erotic thriller returns for another season, after the success of its debut. It tells the story of a married woman who becomes involved in an obsessive and dangerous relationship.

8/2 – Marriage Blind: Japan (Season 1)

After the US premiere and a Brazilian version, the relationship reality show arrives in the Asian country. In the dynamic, men and women compete to find their ideal match, and must decide whether or not to marry.

2/11 – Making Anna (Season 1)

The real case of socialite Anna Delvey becomes a miniseries by Shonda Rimes, creator of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Bridgerton”. Julia Garner plays Delvey, a German scammer who infiltrated New York’s high society and made millionaire scams pretending to be a socialite.

2/11 – Toy Boy (Season 2)

The Spanish series tells the story of a stripper, who after years in prison, wins parole and tries to prove his innocence.

2/18 – Parallel Mothers

The new film by filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar officially debuts on the streaming platform. The long-term star Penélope Cruz, the director’s long-time partner, tells the story of two women who give birth on the same day, and their lives are intertwined from that fact. It was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film, and is one of the Oscar favorites in the category.

2/18 – Space Force (Season 2)

The comedy that reunites Steve Carell and the producers of “The Office” wins another season. Carell is General Mark. R. Naird, a controversial pilot assigned to command the space division of the United States Armed Forces.

2/25 – Back to 15 (Season 1)

Camila Queiroz is Anita, a 30-year-old woman who ends up going back in time, and goes back to her 15 years, when she was still in school and suffered from bullying. Maisa plays the young Anita, who relives her adolescence, but with the mind of an adult, and who has a chance to change her own story.

2/25 – Vikings: Valhalla (Season 1)

This spin-off of the hit series “Vikings” takes place 100 years after Ragnar’s conquests. The plot, inspired by historical events, now follows the warrior Leif Eriksson, who needs to unite pagan and Christian Vikings in his goal to confront England.

4/2 – Reacher (Season 1)

Lee Childs’ action novel series inspires the new Amazon series. In the plot, Jack Reacher is a police investigator and war veteran who becomes involved in the investigation of serial murders in a small town.

2/18 – Lov3 (Season 1)

The Brazilian series follows three brothers and their explorations of sexuality and new ways of relating.

2/18 – The Wonderful Mrs. Maisel (Season 4)

The culture series about stand-up culture and female reality in the 1950s USA returns. In the new season, comedian Maisel Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) tries to turn around her career after going through difficulties.

HBO Max

3/2 – Raised by Wolves (Season 2)

The sci-fi produced by Ridley Scott (“Alien” and “Blade Runner”) continues its reflective plot, about a couple of androids programmed to raise human children on an inhospitable planet.

2/10 – Kimi

Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh directs this exclusive film for HBO Max, about a computer technician who discovers a murder using voice assistant software.

2/10 – The Girl Before (Season 1)

British thriller miniseries, with Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Black Mirror”). In the plot, a young woman moves into the house of a renowned architect, but discovers that before her another woman has lived – and disappeared – there.
