Earlier this year, Netflix officially announced it was entering the gaming market. Netflix Gaming debuted in Poland last month with two Stranger Things mobile games. Now it is known that Netflix will create a game based on the hugely popular TV series Squid Game.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Minyoung Kim, vice president of online video streaming platform for Asia-Pacific content, talked about the possibility of turning a successful series into a video game. A senior Netflix spokesman confirmed that the company is “exploring” the opportunity. Minyeong Kim even added that the company is receiving numerous requests to translate the series into a video game format.
At the moment, negotiations are underway for a second season of the South Korean series. In addition, Netflix is in the process of creating a roadmap for future Squid Game intellectual property projects.
