Netflix will introduce a new, cheaper version with ads

Netflix Inc. co-CEO Ted Sarandos officially acknowledged this on Thursday: the ads are being streamed, with the company discussing with potential business partners what form the listing will take.

“We have left a large percentage of customers out of the game – they are the ones who say ‘Netflix is very expensive for me and I have no problem seeing ads,'” Sarandos said. We will not add ads to Netflix as we know it today. It will be a new version of the service for those who say “yes, I want a cheaper price and I will watch ads”.

The Netflix executive comments come a day after the Wall Street Journal reported that Alphabet’s Google and Comcast’s NBCUniversal are the company’s key candidates for the new service.

Sarandos declined to comment on any commitment to cooperation, but confirmed that Netflix was talking “with everyone” and that each of the companies was “offering different solutions”.

In April, the company announced the loss of 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, and then the share fell sharply.
