Netherlands: explosion near a Covid-19 screening center

One explosion sounded this Wednesday, March 3 in the morning in the Netherlands, in the city of Bovenkarspel, in North Holland. Dutch police explained that the explosive had gone off near a Covid-19 screening center, specifying that the incident had not caused any injuries. “Near the screening center of the local public health service in Bovenkarspel, an explosive went off at 6:55 am Windows were destroyed, no injuries. The police are investigating. The perimeter has been cordoned off, ”police said in a brief statement.

Demining services have been deployed to the scene to determine if explosive material is still there, according to state television NOS.

A screening center burned down previously

Last January, when a curfew came into force to fight Covid-19, a screening center was set on fire in the village of Urk, in the near province of Flevoland.

For several days, the Netherlands had experienced riots, the largest having taken place in the country for several decades. Many Dutch people display, sometimes violently, their opposition to health restriction measures, such as the curfew.
