New Apple Beats Studio Buds use MediaTek SoC instead of Apple H1

A few days ago, Apple released the fully wireless Beats Studio Buds, which differ a lot in design and features from the Beats Powerbeats Pro released in 2019.

Tianfeng International’s Ming-Chi Kuo said the Beats Studio Buds are based on MediaTek’s 22nm single-chip system, rather than the 16nm Apple H1 platform.

The reason for using MediaTek’s chipset rather than its own semiconductor product is believed to be for better compatibility with Android devices, as the American tech giant is now focusing more on Android users to increase its market share in the fully wireless headphone category.

Another reason the tech giant used the MediaTek chipset could be shorter development times, more flexible and competitive strategies, lower costs, and a difference from the AirPods series.

Given that Apple is now using the MediaTek platform for its wireless headphones, this will make the Taiwanese manufacturer’s chipsets even more attractive to other companies and allow MediaTek to increase its sales.

It is reported that Apple’s market share in the fully wireless headphone market is shrinking. The forecast for deliveries for the year has been reduced from 85 to 70-75 million units.
