Today, June 15, Oscar Gabrielson (general manager of DICE) and Daniel Berlin (lead designer of DICE) during an hour broadcast on Twitch talked about the details of the gameplay of Battlefield 2042. To begin with, the developers noted that DICE has been working on creating smart bots for several years which could be added to multiplayer mode. And in the new part of the shooter, these bots will be demonstrated for the first time – they, in theory, will help beginners try out the mechanics and study the maps with a great level of comfort, plus in the 128-player mode, bots will replace real gamers who have suddenly turned off. The same function will allow you to fill the lobby faster.
Also, the authors of the project said that initially the idea of natural disasters affecting the gameplay seemed too ambitious, but the first prototype has already proven itself very worthy. For this reason, a sandstorm, for example, which will behave differently every time, is an important element on the battlefield. In addition, gamers themselves can influence the course of the battle using a variety of interactive objects. For example, if enemies are crushing vehicles with firepower, it will be possible to raise bridges to restrict their area of movement. There will be a lot of such elements on the maps and they really affect the gameplay.
The developers also noted that the usual classes in Battlefield 2042 will not be – each player in any role can use any type of weapon without restrictions. But each specialist will have a unique ability that allows him to gain a certain advantage in battle. And, accordingly, in squads, the roles will be combined for greater efficiency. On release, there will be four specialists – an attack aircraft, a scout, an engineer, and a support soldier. The developers will add four more new specialists within a year after the release, there is no information about their purpose yet. But DICE employees noted that only cosmetic items will be given in the battle pass for money, while all new cards will be available for free.

More information about multiplayer, modes and weapons Battlefield 2042 in DICE promised to tell on July 22 at EA Play.
