New Branding for USB-C Cables Eliminates Confusion: Now Labels Show Power

The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), an industry leader in USB technology, has officially announced new branding for certified USB-C cables. New logos have been developed for cables based on the USB4, USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery specifications, which should clear up the confusion.

Although all USB-C connectors look the same, cables vary. They all comply with different standards regarding transmitted power, data rate, and so on. It is for this reason that USB-IF has approved new logos for certified USB Type-C cables, which now contain information on the power rating in watts. This clearly indicates support for 60W or 240W according to the USB Power Delivery 3.1 specification. In addition, the USB4 logos for certified cables have also been updated to unify branding.

Of course, this still does not solve the problem of manufacturers of accessories that do not comply with USB-IF standards. That is why the organization recommends purchasing certified cables from reliable manufacturers with appropriate markings.
