At least two people have been killed and four others injured in a building collapse in western Iran, two weeks after a similar incident in the southwestern part of the country, according to official media.
“So far, two people have been killed, four injured and at least one is missing,” said Mozambaba Khaledi, a spokesman for the National Aid Service.
The three-storey building in the town of Novsud in the Paveh district of western Kermanshah province collapsed after a gas leak, Paveh governor Ardeshir Rostami was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency.
On May 23, a ten-storey building under construction in the city of Abadan, in the province of Khuzestan (southwest), collapsed, killing 43 people and arresting 13 people, including former mayors.
The disaster was one of the deadliest in Iran in years and sparked protests in the country against authorities accused of corruption and incompetence.
