At least 13 people died and another 20 were injured after a bus hit a stone and get off the road in the Potosí region, western Bolivia, local police said on Wednesday (12). According to the authorities, the accident may be related to landslides caused by heavy rains in the region.
This Wednesday’s accident marks the latest in a series of fatal collisions in the South American country. So far, in 2025, at least 127 deaths and more than 200 injured have been reported before this accident, according to Bolivian traffic police.
In 2024, the Traffic Operative Unit documented more than 15,000 accidents resulting in more than 1,480 deaths, with an average of at least four deaths a day.
