New career era – Looking at acquisitions

Kariera.gr enters a new era two years after the repurchase of the company by its founder Theofilos Vassiliadis with the support of brothers Aristotelis and Stefanos Panteliadis (METRO SA, Optima).

The company is preparing to launch its new website in early April with additional features, while expanding its services in the areas of employer branding and human resource management.

As Mr. Vassiliadis said during a presentation to journalists, the investment in recent years has exceeded 2.5 million euros, while the goal is for Kariera to proceed with acquisitions of other companies even abroad.

It is worth noting that the company started in 1997 with the first activity of publishing free magazines and quickly entered the Internet with Kariera.gr being one of the first successful efforts of the Greek internet. The company was acquired by the American Career Builder but passed back into Greek hands in the summer of 2020.

The new platform will operate with the logic of a social media that will provide in addition to ads and content targeted at the interests of each user. The software was developed internally under a special team led by Giannis Zaoudis, one of the co-founders of Pollfish, which was recently acquired by the American company Prodege.

“We worked on the project as a startup within the company. We started from scratch, to build something innovative that will not drag the burdens of the past,” said Mr. Zaoudis.

As Mr. Vassiliadis also noted, the new platform of Kariera will try to solve the big gap in the filling of jobs, especially for the employees of services, office, but also of high technical skills.

The immediate plans include the expansion to services related to human resource management, without the part of payroll management, so that Kariera.gr can offer comprehensive services before and after the hiring process of an employee. According to Mr. Vassiliadis, this combination of services is not offered anywhere.

In the last two years, the company has strengthened its human resources and now employs more than 100 people. The company’s revenues for 2021 amounted to 6 million euros and the estimate for 2022 is that they will reach 10 million euros.
