New Chief of Secret Services the German Ambassador to Kyiv

Germany’s ambassador to Kiev, Martin Jger, will probably be the new head of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), replacing Bruno Kal, according to Der Spiegel magazine. As the magazine points out, the change in the head of the intelligence services was a decision by Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, but the chancellor has not so far confirmed the information. Outgoing Bruno Kal is going to take over the German embassy in the Vatican. Martin Jagger is one of the most experienced diplomats of the German Foreign Ministry and is particularly capable of crisis management. Mr Jagger had abandoned the diplomatic corps for the free economy, and has served as ambassador to Afghanistan and Irlak, as a spokesman for Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Foreign Ministry and as a spokesman for Wolfgang Schoimble at the Hellenic Ministry of Finance. Since July 2023 he has been the German ambassador to Kyiv. Source: RES
