in interview to CNN this Sunday (21), Flavia Mouta, director of Issuers at B3 stated that newer companies listed on the Brazilian stock exchange tend to advance more in the gender diversity agenda on their boards of directors.
“We we’ve made more progress in gender diversity on boards of directors, but we still have almost 40% of companies without a woman on the board. The companies that are most advanced in this agenda are the newest, but there is still room for improvement”, highlighted Flavia Mouta.
B3 establishes a proposal for companies to maintain on their boards of directors, or leadership positions, at least one woman or a member of minority groups, such as blacks, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Flavia Mouta said the standard should be completed by 2023, and companies will have about two to three years to adapt to the new determination, or else they will have to publicly explain why they are late on the diversity agenda.
“This is an internationally known approach where the company will need to comply with the rule and adapt its leadership so that it is composed of at least one woman or member of a minority group, or else they need to provide clarification, bring a public justification to explain why he has not yet been able to advance with the theme”, he explained.
