New costume code for tourists in Syria requires “wide and modest” clothes and “bourkini” on the beaches

The new Syrian Islamic authorities have today asked women to wear burkini or clothing that fully covers the body on public beaches, but the measure excludes private, luxurious hotel complexes. This decision by the Ministry of Tourism was announced for six months after the Islamists’ coalition overthrew Bashar al -Assad’s regime. Citing the “common interest”, the ministry calls on holidaymakers to wear “more modest” clothes on the beaches. In particular, women should wear a bourbon or other swimsuit that covers the body. In addition to the seaside zones, they should wear “wide” clothes while men are forbidden to circulate naked. In Syria, a country with conservative morals, few women wore swimsuits on the beaches.
