New cyclone brings storms with lightning and moderate winds to the South this Wednesday

A new extratropical cyclone forms this Wednesday (4) in the south of the country. Thunderstorms with lightening and moderate winds are expected.

Although the phenomenon forms in the high seas and does not reach the coast, it will influence the weather in the states in the region.

The main affected regions will be the north of Rio Grande do Sul, the center-west of Santa Catarina and the extreme south of Paraná.

A CNN Radio Climatempo spokesperson Stefanie Tozzo said the phenomenon “will serve as fuel to increase rainfall across the region”, which has been repeatedly affected by storms.

In September alone, southern Brazil received the influence and impact of six extratropical cyclones.

On Thursday (5), the cyclone moves away from the region and heads towards the Southeast of the country, causing another cold front.

In São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo the forecast is for rain, with temperatures increasing throughout the week. On the other hand, in the North of the country “rain occurs irregularly”: “The drought alert continues in Amazonas”.

The Central-West should have firm weather, with sun and only occasional rain. In the Northeast, it will rain in the interior of Bahia, Maranhão and Piauí from Wednesday onwards.

Stefanie Tozzo also highlighted that the forecast indicates that a new heat wave should hit the country in the second half of October.

The removal of the cyclone from the South region, on Thursday, will cause the rains to cease in the locality. The dry period will be important for many cities that are still rebuilding after the recent floods and their consequences.
