The Balkan Gate Crete, is a strategic investment of great importance, with which Crete will acquire its first TIER III carrier neutral data center, with the direct goal of concentrating all the optical fibers that land from the Mediterranean and the Aegean, in the existing and future Cable Landing Stations (CLS) of Megalonisos, the company states in a relevant announcement and adds:
The data center will be housed in a privately owned building infrastructure and will be constructed from scratch according to the TIER III specifications of the Uptime Institute, integrating in each of its stages, the most modern technological systems for infrastructure, energy and cooling management. With full respect for the environment, Lancom has set itself the goal of maximizing energy efficiency of the Data Center with innovative cutting-edge solutions that will be implemented by its strategic partners.
At its launch, Balkan Gate Crete will be directly connected to Balkan Gate in Kalochori, Thessaloniki (www.balkangate.com), creating a telecommunications dipole, with the safest and fastest passage of data from the Mediterranean to the Balkans and vice versa. At the same time, operating exclusively as a carrier neutral data center, it will be the only neutral point of connection of all the fiber optic providers of the Mediterranean with Greece and consequently with the Balkans.
