New documentary reveals John Lennon’s last words

The new documentary about the death of John Lennon revealed the singer’s last moments before his death. Titled “John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial” (“A murder without trial”, in free translation), the production premieres on December 6th, on the Apple TV+ streaming service.

The lead singer of the Beatles was killed in December 1980 by Mark Chapman.

According to information published by the newspaper Independent, concierge Jay Hastings was responsible for witnessing the singer’s last moments (and words). He worked at the reception desk at the Dakota Building in New York, where Lennon lived with his wife, Yoko Ono, and son, Sean Ono Lennon.

“He ran past me and said, ‘I’ve been shot.’ He had blood coming out of his mouth. And then he just fell to the ground,” he said in an excerpt from the documentary.

“I turned him onto his back, took off his glasses and placed them on the table. And Yoko was screaming, ‘Call an ambulance, call an ambulance, call an ambulance,’” she added.

Taxi driver Richard Peterson also said in the documentary that he witnessed the shooting. He claims he was in his car, parked in front of the building where everything happened. “A guy shot John Lennon. I thought they were making a movie, but I didn’t see any special lights or cameras or anything else that would indicate that, so I figured it out,” he said.

In addition to exclusive interviews with people close to the musician at the time of his murder, the production also analyzes Chapman’s motivations through conversations with defense lawyers, psychiatrists, prosecutors and detectives.

The documentary also explores the many conspiracy theories that have emerged since John Lennon’s murder.
