A new digital service was launched by the administration of e-EFKA with the aim of facilitating the self-employed who are close to retirement and need additional insurance time.
The digital service “Optional continuation of insurance n.4387/2016” allows the electronic submission of an application for the optional continuation of the insurance of Non-Employees (Self-Employed-Self-Employed, Farmers), whose last insurance was as Non-Employed, have interrupt their insurance and wish to optionally continue the insurance for Main Pension and/or Sickness and/or Supplementary Insurance Branch.
Until now, insured persons who were one step before retirement but needed additional insurance time, in order to make use of its optional continuation, needed to visit the local offices and services of e-EFKA. Now, with the online submission of an application, they can submit a relevant request from their computer.
The new electronic service is available on the e-EFKA website www.efka.gov.gr using the Taxisnet codes, following the route: 1. Electronic Services, 2. Electronic Services for Freelancers, Self-Employed and Farmers, 3. Optional continuation of Non-Employee insurance.

According to the relevant circular 26/15-7-2022, after the final submission of the application for optional continuation of the insurance, the request is sent to the competent Local Directorate of e-EFKA and through automated checks the relevant procedure is completed and the insured is informed.
