New emoji from Android 12 can already be installed on any smartphone with root

Smilies have become an integral part of informal self-expression. These tiny graphic elements add emotion, intent, and character to simple words. More often than not, Google announces a new set of stickers every time the Android system is updated. However, this year the company will most likely introduce emojis that are found in Unicode Emoji 13.1 installed on Android 12. And while the new icons have not appeared in any of the released developer builds, they will be available to users of the older version of the operating system if they have a rooted mobile device. This was reported by XDA Developers.

In order to install new emoticons on an Android device, you need to download a zip file with modernized graphic elements. After that, you need to open Magisk, go to the modules page, click the plus icon and select the downloaded document. After installation, the system will reboot immediately. And that’s all, after that, users will be able to diversify their communication with brighter emoticons.

It’s worth noting that the new graphical elements look the same as in Android 11, but with some changes to food, plants and other objects. As noted by XDA Developers, the developers made the new emoji look like blobs by removing the gradient and outline. That is, emoji got a more modern style and design. It should be noted that this is only a demo version of the graphic elements. Users will see the final set only after the official version of Android 12 is released.

If the new emoticons do not work on the Gboard keyboard, then the following scheme will help in this situation. The user needs to open a file manager like Mixplorer and go to Data / Data / com.google.android.inputmethod.latin / Shared_Prefs / Flags_Value.xml and find the emoji_compat_app_whitelist line. After that, you need to remove the rows of application packages and forcibly close the keyboard. If this option did not help, then you will have to wait until Gboard upgrades from Unicode 12.1 to Unicode 13.

XDA Developers also revealed that Gboard users can access the new Emoji 13.1 installed in Emoji Kitchen. This feature will allow you to create your own mixed emoji and share it with your pen pals.
