New Erasmus + application with the built-in European student card: How it will work

The new Erasmus + application, taking another step towards the digitization of the program, was launched on Tuesday (21/9) by European Commission.

This is an application, which operates on Android and iOS systems in all EU languages ​​and will offer significant facilities to students.

Students who download it will be able to search and choose their destination among their university partners, sign the online learning agreement, discover events and useful tips for their destination and communicate with other fellow students. and obtain their European student card to access services, museums, cultural activities and special rates at their university and host country.

“I am glad that the interface of our emblematic program for young people, Erasmus +, comes closer to their interests. It is more digital, more mobile-friendly and more community-oriented. “The new application with the integrated student card is crucial for the European Education Area we represent,” said Margaritis Schoinas, vice-president of the Committee for the Promotion of the European Lifestyle, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency.

The European Student Card, available through the application, is an important step in creating a true European Education Area. A place where every student will feel familiar, will have access to the same services and will enjoy the same recognition in terms of their educational background. “

To date, more than 4,000 universities are participating in the Erasmus Without Paper network, which allows them to exchange data securely and make learning agreements easier. This digital collaboration enables the development and widespread recognition of the European student card.

According to the action plan for digital education, tThe new Erasmus + program for the period 2021-2027 supports the development of digital skills and contributes to the digital transition of European education systems. With an increased budget of over € 28 billion over the 7-year period, the Erasmus + program will also support the resilience of education and training systems to the pandemic.

For the current academic year (2021-2022), 600,000 higher education students are expected to go abroad, thanks to the Erasmus + program.
