Petrobras announced a new fuel adjustment on Friday (17). Gasoline rose 5.18%, while diesel prices rose 14.26%. This means a variation of BRL 0.15 per liter and BRL 0.63 per liter, respectively.
The new increase generated a reaction from the government and from the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who even called the president of Petrobras, José Mauro Coelho, to say that the readjustment would have consequences.
According to calculations by Abicom (Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers), even with the readjustment, the lag in the case of diesel is still, on average, 9%. Gasoline, on the other hand, is lagged by 5% on average.
Specialists say that the lag cannot be so high so that there is no shortage of fuel in Brazil, especially diesel, which is the fuel that the country is most dependent on imports.
