Experienced diplomat Martin Jagger will be the new President of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) and will succeed Bruno Cal, who has been leading the German intelligence since 2016. Mr Jagger has so far served as an ambassador of Germany to Kiev. 60 -year -old Martin Juger is considered a “man of special missions”, as he has also served as German ambassador to Kabul and Baghdad in critical political periods. As a career diplomat, he was a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2005-2008 under Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Immediately afterwards he left the ministry to work as head of Daimler’s Foreign Relations Department, from where he returned to appoint an ambassador to Kabul for the period 2013-14.
