New highway code: here are the rules

The norm that made the most news, at first, was that which prohibits sexist or violent messages on the streets. It also applies to messages that are detrimental to respect for individual freedoms, civil and political rights, religious beliefs, ethnicity.

However, it is not the only rule of the new highway code redesigned by the Infrastructure decree, which is published in the Official Gazette by 10 November and which subsequently enters into force.

Many

They will no longer be just for mobile phones. In the current version of the highway code there is a fine for those who use “radiotelephone sets” while driving. The rule adapts to the times and the list of forbidden means gets longer. There are: “smartphones, laptops, notebooks, tablets and similar devices which even temporarily lead to the removal of the hands from the steering wheel ‘.

Double the many, from a maximum of 335 euros to a maximum of 672, and the subtraction of points for those who park in areas reserved for the disabled is tripled from 2 to 6.

There is a penalty for those who bring others without a helmet on a moped. Until now it was only if the person being transported was a minor. Now it applies to everyone.

Whoever collects the fines must publish an annual report on the destination of the proceeds and must be posted on the institutional website.

Free

From January 2022, parking in the parking lots with blue stripes is free for disabled cars with a badge. Parking spaces reserved for pregnant women and parents with children up to two years of age are increasing, always with a badge displayed.

There is no obligation to wear a helmet for adults and not even that of having a license plate on the vehicles. You cannot stay longer than an hour in the charging stations for electric cars. The ban does not apply between 11pm and 7am, with the exception of the fast and super fast areas.

Pedestrians

Pollution

From 30 June 2022 the circulation of vehicles of category M2 and M3 with Euro 1 characteristics is prohibited.
