New images of shame in Hagia Sophia: Shoes are hung on doors and walls

Another case of vandalism was recorded in Hagia Sophiaas the Turkish media reproduces images in which the faithful are seen hanging them shoes them on the walls and doors of the historic temple.

According to the Turkish media, this move may be made because Muslims take off their shoes before entering a mosque, but the reactions are very negative. Network features Global News states that “the shoes, while they must be placed in the special cases, were squeezed in the heart of the story”.

In fact, the issue was also raised by head of the Municipality of Istanbul, Mahir Polatwho in a post he made on Twitter, stated the following:

“The situation has reached a point where offends the sanctity and historical value of Hagia Sophia.

I ask the competent institutions to put an end to this shame to the sensitivity of millions of people who have dedicated their souls to Hagia Sophia. “Do not the 154 cameras and the 69 security and tourism police see this?”

It is noted that a few days ago, images were published that seem to have the Imperial Gate of Hagia Sophia was destroyed.
