The Upcoming iPad Pro Is Likely To Be Thicker And A Better Display Owing To Mini-LED Support

Same Design As iPad Pro 2020

MacOtakara is a famous Japanese site that focuses on Apple’s products and services.

The rumors of an upcoming launch of the iPad Pro were buzzing around for a while, but MacOtakara has recently confirmed these rumors and said that the official launch may happen somewhere in March 2021. However, the design of these models will be the same as that of the iPads of the current generation, with minor tweaks here and there.

The major difference is going to be in the thickness of the 12.9-inch model. As per some Chinese suppliers, Apple is releasing iPad Pro 2021 in two sizes: an 11-inch and a 12.9- inch model. The 12.9- inch model is going to be around 0.5mm thicker than the iPad Pro 2020.

Many people who heard this news are not really happy with the added thickness because they believe that the current iPad Pro already is quite heavy. And then if any accessory like a keyboard is attached to it, it becomes really sturdy.

Speculations are going on that this thickness is because of the min-LED display that the upcoming iPad Pro 12.9-inch model version will be supporting. But that is not the reason.

Some people are happy with the news of a thicker iPad! They believe that it is very fragile and bendable in its current form.

Although macOtakara did not claim about the mini-LED display outright, it just said that there are chances of having one.

The Impending Changes

The Japanese blog has mentioned some slight changes that the new iPad Pro is likely to be coming with.

Number of speaker holes and positioning changes

First off, the number of speaker holes has been reduced and their placement has also changed in the latest models in making. It is going to have some effect on the audio quality, but whether it will be a good impact or a bad one, that can only be judged once this iPad hits the markets and people get their hands-on experience.

Flushed-in rear camera

Secondly, in the rear camera module, the lenses will not be protruded and are likely to be flushed. That will add more stability and sturdiness to the iPad.

Mini-LED display

The mini-LED display is going to be an interesting change as it will enhance the picture quality, improve the brightness, enhance the power efficiency and thus make it go easier on batteries, and sharper contrast ratio. Mini-LED technology is being incorporated in newer TV sets with hundreds of tiny LEDs grouped at the back of the screen, providing a much better picture and display quality than OLED.

DigiTimes suggests that Apple may choose Epistar for the production of this LED display.

The ultra-bright screen is going to take an iPad experience to a whole new and highly improved level, and people are pretty excited about it, calling it a ‘killer feature’ in the making!

While all these changes and other minor tweaks are coming up, we can hope that Apple improves the power options too, especially if the rumor about the mini-LED display support is also true.

The reason for back-to-back updates

Apple had updated its line of iPads with the iPad Pro in March 2020 only, and then launched the supremely powerful iPad Air in September 2020, it seems that Apple is looking out for its users. With quick updates and upgraded features, the users can feel satisfied that their money is not getting wasted, but it is also adding confusion amongst people who made up their minds to buy the last updated version and suddenly get the news that another over-hauled version is in the pipelines!

However, the new LED display is surely a very attractive feature and if rumors are true, then it is going to be an absolutely amazing upgrade!

Let’s just wait and see what Apple has in store for us all.
