New iPhones will receive a 10x optical zoom periscope camera

GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu claims that at least one iPhone 15 model released in 2023 will feature a periscope camera that will provide 10x optical zoom.

Last fall, reports emerged that LG Innotek was developing a periscope zoom lens for Apple, which it announced at the time would be used in iPhones from 2022 or 2023.

Apple’s rival Samsung pioneered the periscope zoom lens in the Galaxy S20 series launched in January last year. Many other Android-based flagships from Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and other companies also actively use similar modules.

Launched last year, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Huawei P40 Pro + already have 10x zoom periscope cameras, while the iPhone 13 Pro only offers 3x optical zoom.

TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier that Apple will finally add a periscope camera to the iPhone in 2023, as well as a new lens with eight plastic lenses.
