Israeli airstrikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday night while the IDF issued an evacuation order to civilians earlier, according to Lebanese state media. The national news agency reported that the raids took place near the University of Lebanon and the suburb of Burj al-Barajneh. Later, another attack hit the al-Jamous neighborhood, which was not included in the Israeli army’s evacuation warning. Explosions were heard in Beirut, while thick black smoke covered the area, state media reported. Earlier the Israeli army had issued evacuation orders for specific buildings in the areas of Haret Hareik and Burj al-Barajneh. “To all residents located in the Southern Suburbs area and specifically in the buildings specified on the attached maps and their neighboring buildings in the following areas: Haret Hreik, Burj al-Barajneh.
