The new Prime Minister of Japan, the head of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, announced government policy that includes support for NFTs and the use of blockchain technologies.

Shigeru Ishiba said the Japanese government plans to leverage the benefits of blockchain and NFTs to create transparent, secure and decentralized ecosystems that can benefit the economy.

“By combining blockchain and NFT technologies, we intend to maximize the global value of local products and services, such as food or tourism experiences,” Ishiba said.

Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba added that blockchain technology offers a reliable platform for verifying the origin of goods, ensuring that consumers can track the entire production process from raw materials to the final product. Integrating NFTs with Japan’s tourism and leisure industry will create new opportunities to promote local attractions and reward loyal tourists with unique tokens or discounts on future trips, the official explained.

Earlier, JAN3 CEO Samson Mow, at a meeting with the Minister of Financial Services and Member of the House of Representatives of Japan, Junichi Kanda, proposed using Bitcoin to maintain the stability of the national economy.
