German company Infineon ousted NXP as a leading supplier of semiconductor products for automotive electronics. This is the conclusion reached by specialists from Strategy Analytics, who prepared a report on the market of semiconductor products for cars for 2020.
The top five manufacturers of these products, in addition to Infineon, include the former leader NXP, Renesas, Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics. In total, they provide 49% of supplies.
According to Strategy Analytics, the revenue of automotive semiconductor suppliers in 2020 decreased by 6.0% compared to 2019. In absolute terms, it decreased from $ 37.2 billion to $ 35.0 billion.
“The global automotive semiconductor market in 2020 was hit by the global COVID-19 pandemic in the first half of the year, but pent-up demand triggered a strong recovery, which allowed the revenues of the suppliers of these products to grow significantly and to minimize the overall decline for the year,” Asif said.
