He added: “I’m an admirer of Superman and Lex Luthor as characters, so I hope we’ve done something unique that the audience will enjoy.”
Recently, regarding the new production, Gunn also confirmed the participation of the superdog Krypto. “He was inspired by our dog Ozu, who we adopted shortly after I started writing ‘Superman.’ Ozu, who came from a situation of hoarding in a backyard with 60 other dogs and never met humans, was problematic to say the least,” he said.
The new Superman will be played by David Corenswet (“The Politician”); Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) will play Lois Lane; and Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza”) will be Jimmy Olsen. “Superman” is scheduled to open in theaters on July 2025 .
The production “will focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” according to the studio’s announcement. The film will be the first film in the new DC Comics universe (DCU).
