The new Live Caption function for transcribing speech from video is already available in the Google Chrome browser on your computer. This service will be available only for application version 89 and higher. In order to connect a new function, users need to open the PC settings, select the “Advanced” option, and then – “Accessibility”. If Live Caption does not appear in the menu, you need to restart the application.
It’s worth noting that the first time you enable the new feature, the browser will start downloading the speech recognition files. XDA devs who have already experienced Live Caption note that it works flawlessly. Subtitles appear in a small pop-up window at the bottom of the screen. Users will also be able to maximize the window to increase the amount of text.
A nice bonus in the program is that it works even when the sound is turned off. That is, those users who do not have the opportunity to listen to the video file will be able to find out its content using subtitles.
