“New management at Petrobras should immediately negotiate a fund”, says expert

In an interview with CNN Brazil this Thursday (7), the professor at the Institute of Energy and Environment at USP Virginia Parente said that the new management of Petrobras needs to negotiate a stabilization fund to control the price of fuels as quickly as possible.

“It is necessary to respect the company’s governance, but quickly negotiate a fund that avoids this volatility. Translating currency devaluations and following fluctuations is very disturbing for the worker, who needs fuel to live”, said the expert.

The professor said the resources for the creation of this fund should not come from Petrobras, but from the National Treasury.

“This fund must be created because every time we take a breather, whether from negotiations between Russia and Ukraine or the end of the war, we will see a lot of volatility in the price of oil in the world and this will end up being reflected here in Brazil”, he declared. .

Virginia Parente also commented on the appointment of José Mauro Ferreira Coelho by the government to preside over the state-owned company. According to her, the name should be well received by the market.

“José Mauro is a career professional, has over 10 years at EPE, which is the planning arm of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and has been involved in several initiatives. He is a name that the market will welcome because he is a person admired by his peers”, he highlighted.
