New “Mean Girls” hits streaming platforms for rental

“Mean Girls: The Musical” arrived on streaming platforms this Wednesday (6) and can now be rented and purchased there.

The film is a musical adaptation of the classic “Mean Girls”, released in 2004, and is available for purchase on Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play and Microsoft Store. Those who want to rent have options such as ClaroTV+, Vivo Play and Oi.

The film premiered in Brazil on January 11th, with a plot written by Tina Fey, who is part of the cast of the original production, and directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr.

The plot is the same as the original production and follows Cady's arrival at a school in the United States after leaving Africa. To help revenge a new friend, she joins the school's preppy group, led by Regina George.

While planning to destroy the girls by pretending to be their friend, Cady tries to balance between maintaining her essence and facing the most dangerous jungle of all: high school.

The production features new names in the main roles, but also returns with talents known to fans, such as Tina Fey, as Professor Norbury, and Tim Meadows, as director Duvall.

The original version starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert in the cast.

The main cast of “Mean Girls: The Musical” includes: Angourie Rice, who plays Cady Heron; Reneé Rapp as Regina George; Avantika will play Karen Shetty; Bebe Wood will play Gretchen Wieners; and Christopher Briney will be the heartthrob of the moment.
