New Pix rules start to apply on Monday (2); see what changes

New rules announced by the Central Bank (BC) for Pix start to apply from this Monday (2). The institution released the changes on December 2, the same day Pix broke a record of 99.4 million transactions made in a single day by users.

However, on the 20th, the system surpassed the 100 million transaction mark for the first time (reaching 104.1 million).

Among the highlights of the new rules is the elimination of the mandatory limit per transaction, maintaining only the limit per period of time.

That is, if the user had a total daily limit of BRL 1,000, but a limit of BRL 500 per transaction, it was necessary to make two transfers. With the change, as of Monday, you will only be able to make a transfer of R$ 1,000.

Pix withdrawal and change limits were also changed, from R$ 500 to R$ 3,000 during the day, and from R$ 100 to R$ 1,000 at night.

“This measure aims to adapt the limits usually available at ATMs for traditional withdrawals. Thus, with Pix Saque, users will have access to the service with conditions similar to those of the traditional withdrawal”, explained the BC, in a note.

night time

Another change is the night time limit, which becomes flexible and defined by the customer, if the bank offers this option. “The customization of the differentiated night schedule becomes optional”, informed the BC.

According to the institution’s note, this change can be applied until July 3, 2023.

The nighttime limit is lower than the daytime limit and was established to prevent criminal actions.

limit change

The threshold change in value has not changed and remains the same. If the user wants to reduce their Pix limits, the request must be met immediately.

If he wants to increase, his bank will have a period of 24 hours to 48 hours to evaluate the request and accept it or not.

“The BC also promoted changes to the Pix regulation to, among other operational improvements, facilitate the receipt of funds by bank correspondents through Pix, as is already the case with lottery outlets, and enable the payment of salaries, retirements and pensions by the National Treasury through Pix”, concludes the BC statement.
