Cristiano Pinto da Costa assumed this Monday (1st) the presidency of Shell Brasil replacing André Araújo, who spent twelve years in the position. Costa was the company’s executive vice president and continues to lead the direct leadership of the Exploration and Production business in the country.
“Assuming the presidency of Shell Brasil in this moment of energy transition is the biggest responsibility of my career. Maintaining Brazil’s relevance to Shell in the upstream (exploration and production) will continue to be an objective of my management”, said the executive in a note.
According to Costa, another objective is to make several other business areas of the company take off, such as Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, Solar and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), “always seeking to generate social value and a positive impact on the lives of people inside and outside the company”. outside the company,” he said.
Costa is a chemical engineer graduated from UFRJ with an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, in the United Kingdom. He joined Shell as an intern in 1996 and followed an international career for 18 years, having held various positions in the Downstream, Integrated Gas, Acquisitions and Divestments, Trading and Upstream lines, until returning to Brazil in 2018 to manage Shell’s assets in the pre- -sal, finally reaching the position of Executive Vice President in 2021.
