CNN/RealTime Big Data Research
The CNN/RealTime Big Data Survey for the 2022 presidential elections, released first-hand by CNN this Wednesday (25), brings former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) with 40% of voting intentions in the first turn, followed by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), with 32%; and by Ciro Gomes (PDT), with 9%.
Then come André Janones (Avante) and Simone Tebet (MDB), with 2%; and Luciano Bivar (União Brasil), with 1%.
This is the scenario with the most pre-candidates and without the former governor of São Paulo João Doria (PSDB), who gave up running for president on Monday (23).
Lincoln Portela is the new vice president of the Chamber
The Chamber of Deputies elected on Wednesday afternoon (25) the three new members of the Board of Directors: 1st vice president, 2nd secretary and 3rd secretary.
The 1st vice-presidency belongs to the PL, and the party’s official candidate for the position was Deputy Lincoln Portela (PL-MG). He was elected with 232 votes.
Moro tells CNN about action taken by PT members
Former judge Sergio Moro (União Brasil) declared, this Wednesday (25), in an interview with CNN that the popular action taken by members of the coordination of the campaign of ex-president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for damage to the treasury against him shows who the members of the Workers’ Party are.
“I applied the law, as a judge, simply. Who denies that Petrobras was looted during the PT governments, which Petrobras almost went bankrupt. Let’s remember 2015. Whoever denies this lies to the Brazilian people. Anyone who says that fighting corruption has harmed the country is lying to the Brazilian people,” says Moro.
Linear fit to public servants
Legislation and the election year restrict the space for updating civil servant salaries to a linear increase of 5%. The statement was made by the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.
“Accumulated inflation this year was 5% so far. Functionality can be reset [com a inflação] this year? Yes. It’s possible. Up to 5% does. That’s the conversation today”, said the minister after a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Guedes denied the possibility of a higher-than-inflation readjustment. “It is by law. In an election year, you can only give [reajuste] linear and even inflation. It’s not a philosophical thing. Would the president like to raise for the police? It cannot be differentiated. It’s an election year,” he explained.
Texas school shooting
All of the deaths and injuries in the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday occurred inside a classroom, according to Lt. Chris Olivarez, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. .
The gunman barricaded himself in a room, killing two teachers and 19 children,” Olivarez told CNN’s John Berman and Shimon Prokupecz. He added that this “just shows the complete evil of this sniper”.
