The new best-selling Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition, which just went on sale in China today, does not support Google (or Google Mobile Services) apps and services, according to the source.
Back in February, Xiaomi confirmed that it would no longer include support for Google Mobile Services in its future smartphones with MIUI China ROM. With the MIUI 12.5 update, the company has also removed support for Google Mobile Services on older phones.
The company claims that this move reduces the amount of memory used by the MIUI shell. The Chinese mobile phone maker even allows users to uninstall system apps in MIUI 12.5.

Since the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition comes with MIUI 12.5 out of the box, it does not have the necessary GMS infrastructure files that are required for Google apps and services. Hence, users cannot install Google Mobile Services from the Mi App store on this phone.
The head of the Mi Store has confirmed that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition does not support GMS installation. However, it’s worth noting that Xiaomi may add support for GMS in a future system update. Because the company has previously stated that it will equip phones with GMS support based on demand.
Redmi has launched sales of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition gaming smartphone today, officially announcing that they have surpassed 100,000 units in one minute.
