New repatriates from Gaza: group awaits clearance at the border with Egypt to return to Brazil

The group of Brazilians and family members authorized to leave the Gaza Strip is already in Rafah, on the border with Egypt, and is currently completing immigration procedures.

According to diplomatic sources, the group that will come to Brazil should have around 50 people. The final number of repatriates will be released by Itamaraty today.

As shown by CNN authorization was given to 78 Brazilians and Palestinians, but, according to preliminary information, many withdrew because relatives were vetoed by Israel.

Of the list of 102 names sent by Brazil for repatriation, 24 people were vetoed by Israel. The reasons for the ban were not explained.

A CNN also found out that the new group of repatriates from Gaza must leave Rafah and go to Cairo, where they will spend the night this Saturday (9). They are expected to travel to Brazil on Sunday (10).

The FAB plane took off from Rio de Janeiro towards Cairo at 5:08 am this Saturday.

The flight will be direct and is expected to last 15 hours. Landing is estimated for 8pm (Brasília time) this Saturday.
