New scam scheme: Russians receive letters of registration of rights to apartments in Rosreestr

The attackers began to send letters allegedly from Rosreestr, which speaks of the need to register the rights to apartments in the Unified State Register of Real Estate. Such cases are also reported by the centers of public services “My Documents”, where residents of the capital apply. The newspaper Izvestia writes about this with reference to the official statement of the department.

“In accordance with the current legislation, registration of previously arisen rights is of a declarative nature and is carried out free of charge at the request of the copyright holder or when conducting real estate transactions. The capital Rosreestr does not send any additional information about the need to register previously arisen rights and, in general, about the services of the department to applicants, “said Igor Maidanov, head of the Rosreestr Office in Moscow.

Apparently, these letters are about the previously arisen right to real estate – objects that were acquired before January 31, 1998. On February 1, 1998, the law “On state registration of rights to real estate and transactions with it” came into force, which takes into account data on property ownership rights, regardless of their registration in the Unified State Register of Real Estate.

The head of the Moscow Rosreestr called on the owners of such apartments, especially the elderly and single people, to be careful and, if necessary, update the data in the register in a timely manner. Previously, there were cases when scammers reissued apartments for themselves using fake passports of the owners. They submitted an application to Rosreestr and executed the purchase and sale agreement.
