THE HBO Max released this Monday (26), the first teaser of “The Last of Us” , a series based on the successful eponymous video game. The premiere is scheduled for 2023.
Starred by Pedro Pascal (“Wonder Woman: 1984” and “The Mandalorian”) and Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones” and “The Worst Witch Ever”), the plot takes place twenty years after modern civilization was destroyed.
Joel, a seasoned survivor, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone.
And what starts out as a small job soon turns into a brutal and painful journey as the two must cross the US and depend on each other to survive.
The screenplay is by Craig Mazin, also responsible for “Chernobyl”, from HBO, and game creator Neil Druckmann.
“The Last of Us” is one of the most critically acclaimed video games of all time. It made an impact on the Playstation 3 gaming scene in 2013 and made it one of the best-selling titles of that year.
A remastered version of the game, with better graphics, was released for the Playstation 4 the following year. In 2020, it won a sequel and this year, a new version was released from part 1 for the Playstation 5.
The heavy and dramatic themes, along with its movie-like gameplay experience, have been a hit with fans and critics alike.
